A Spectacular Christmas Book Fair, at the Manor Farm Site in Ruislip, on Sunday 12 December 2021

Hillingdon Libraries are hosting a mini winter wonderland on the Manor Farm Site that includes a partnership with Ruislip’s famous Duck Pond Market to create a fun, festive day out for all the family.

Including; specialist craft stalls for all your gift needs, talks on a variety of Christmas subjects, from floral arrangements to the famous Post Box Toppers, booksellers galore for you to choose your perfect literary gift, a series of author events from Trisha Ashely, Heidi Swain, Holly Hepburn and Catherine Miller (with a very special Bridgeton writing workshop!), a Santa’s Grotto – FREE for little ones, (with bookish gifts of course!)  There will also be a Poetry Takeaway, craft activities in the community hut, street performers, and live theatre all over the site!

11am to 12pm Ruislip Horticultural Society  A talk and demonstration on creating your own festival flower arrangement. The Perfect Christmas Floral Arrangement with Ruislip Horticultural Society
1pm to 1.45pm Postbox Toppers This national sensation began in Ruislip! Talk to the ladies who started it all and what inspired them. Plus learn how to make your own.
2pm to 2.15pm Children’s Fancy Dress Competition  The Mayor of Hillingdon will be visiting us especially to pick out the very best Christmas outfit and give out some fabulous prizes. For ages 4-12 FREE - just turn-up
3pm to 3.45pm From Ruislip to Payslip A masterclass on getting published and paid! Local author Bethany Clift, guides you through the tricky world of publishing and getting your novel published. 10am to 4pm Poetry Takeaway

The Poetry Takeaway serves high quality, personalised Poetry to our diners, written, performed and wrapped up to Takeaway.  Our diverse group of poet chefs are the heart of The Poetry Takeaway, along with the people we meet, the stories they share with us, how we tell them and the amazing places in which we find ourselves.

11am, 12.30pm and 2pm The Elves and the Goodometer  Two elves and their 'Goodometer' are checking to find out who’s been naughty and who’s been nice over the past year. Simply scan your hand underneath the infra-red device on the front of the sleigh and one of the presents will light up to indicate whether you've been good, borderline or naughty. The results are sensitively controlled by the performers and huge amounts of laughter are generated within groups of families, friends and those watching. Look out for those naughty nannies!
12pm, 2pm and 3.30pm Sid Bowfin  This engaging and quirky classical violinist with the burning satirical wit, Sid Bowfin. In fine attire, our madcap violinist presents his seasonal repertoire, filled with classical favourites delivered with jaw dropping mastery and festive abandon.
2pm to 2.30pm Eclipse Carol Singers  Some Christmas Carols
10am to 4pm Stormfever Theatre Our own theatre troop performing Christmas skits/shorts and generally ‘elfing around!
