This Is Me: Bob
5 things that tell my Hillingdon Story;
1) The Roxeth Manor Gazette - I was editor (and printer) of my school magazine and it set me on my future career.
2) Ceramic tile from a 1930s house - The tile was part of the fireplace in my childhood home. I’ve always loved staring into flames and just dreaming.
3) Kit-built model of the route 607 trolleybus - One of my life-long interests is public transport. This trolleybus (the real one) ran from Uxbridge to Shepherds Bush from 1936-60. It was the epitome of clean, environmentally friendly travel.
4) Handmade model of The Shovel pub, Cowley - I used to live near this canalside pub. Much of my life has revolved around pubs and I wander around the country visiting them. I used to build models as a hobby.
5) Notebook – ‘all big ideas start small' - This notebook was the first one I used when beginning a project aimed at restoring Cranford Park (on the borders of Hayes and Hounslow). The first entry is dated May 2012. The park won a major grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund in 2020.
