Argosy Players in Lockdown

During lockdown, Hillingdon borough theatre group Argosy Players kept each other entertained by hosting regular Social Evenings on Zoom that included various activities from quizzes to open mic nights, with themes including Lockdown, Hollywood, Sci-Fi, Comedy, Halloween, Best of British, Love, Easter, Travel and Schooldays.

The sessions inspired new, original material for the stage written and performed by members of the society - two of which (Frenemies by David Axtel and The Day I Fought the Monster by Maria Gebhardt) will be included in their forthcoming cabaret show I Know What You Did In Lockdown...On Zoom - live on stage at Compass Theatre on the 8 and 9 October 2021.

The show will also includes; a sketch featuring Boris Johnson written the Chair of Argosy Players, Phil Gossan, a poem written and performed by Sylvia Taylor, a James Bond parody by Susan Harmon and a video from Daniel Cawthery featuring soft toys.

Argosy sadly lost a player in lockdown. Keith French, set designer, actor and director for many theatrical productions in the borough, died from Covi-19 in April 2021. A bench and tree, dedicated to Keith's memory are being placed at Compass Theatre to pay tribute to his contribution to the venue.
