The Compass Theatre in Ickenham is a well-used arts centre in Ickenham, that has been a valuable source of civic pride for Hillingdon residents, of all ages since 1968.

Generations of families have been performed, attended and engaged with the arts through the centre’s activities ever since and in order to ensure residents continue coming for another 50 years, it is felt this birthday is well worth celebrating.

The Opening of Ickenham Youth Theatre (since renamed Compass Theatre) took place on 26 October 1968. The first production in the theatre was Hans, the Witch and the Gobbin a fantasy comedy drama performed by an adult cast for an audience of children.

To celebrate the occasion, Hillingdon Theatres produced a revival of the play, directed by Box Office Manager, Fjóla Stenning, and performed by a company of volunteers, which took place at 11am and 3pm on Saturday 1 September 2018.
