Actor Stephen
Stephen shared his Hillingdon story about Compass Theatre hoping we might have pictures of his time on stage there. Between lockdowns, we found him among the late John Sherratt's extensive Compass photo collection, in the borough's archives.
Memories of Compass Theatre
My twin brother, Mark and I were at Compass Theatre Arts Club all the time. From age 11 in the early 1970s, through to the mid 1980s. Former theatre manger, John Sherratt worked his main cast members very hard - and we loved it. Overall I was in over a hundred different productions and here are some of my favourites;
I was also in dozens of summer shows, floor shows and reviews, The Old Bull and Bush Music Hall and the first of three German Theatre Tours. Reviews were frequently in the local paper - far too many featuring pictures of my ugly mug! John Sherratt kept all the clippings - he loved printing large photos that spent years front of house, including one about 6ft square!"
